North BedfordshireYou'll find the villages of North Bedfordshire are without doubt amongst the most picturesque in this part of the country and very well worth a visit.Start with Cardington, home village of John Howard the famous prison reformer and site of a once thriving Airship industry whose huge hangars are still very visible. Visit the local cemetary and view the memorial to the R101 disaster. Move on to Elstow, where John Bunyan grew up. Be sure to visit the old church and the Moot Hall which dates back to 1500A.D. Approach Bromham by the ancient stone bridge with its 26 arches and visit Bromham Water Mill and Gallery which has recently been restored and is open to the public. Stevington is famous for its windmill. Pop into the Royal George Inn, pick up the key and browse around the mill in your own time. Take time to visit Harrold with its quaint old lock-up, early 18th century market house and the Harrold Odell Country Park, with its beautiful walks, lakes and woodland. Other villages well worth the effort include Turvey, Great Barford, Willington, Sharnbrook, Thurleigh and Odell. Places to visit:
