The District of Alnwick

From the unspoilt wilds of the Northumberland National Park to the outstanding beauty of the Heritage Coast, the District of Alnwick is one of the most beautiful areas in Britain. It's natural environment is perfect for the birdwatcher, fishing enthusiast and conservationist.

In the heart of the Northumbrian Borderland is the beautiful and wild Coquet Valley, ideal for walkers, ponytrekkers and cyclists. The National Park has clearly marked out routes in the Simonside Hills and the Cheviot Hills provide a challenging walk across the beautiful heather clad landscape. Down from the hills the area offers a host of walks along the striking coastline. A path runs nearly the full length of the Heritage Coast passing through Newton Haven, Alnmouth and Warkworth bays.

There are a wealth of attractions for the visitor in the area, from stately homes, magnificent castles to art galleries, craft and antique shops. Famous for its castles the area offers an historical gem at every turn.
