Brimham Rocks The Yorkshire Dales have captured the attention of many by means of films, television, literary works and the personalities of their people. Imagination becomes reality where sheep and cattle safely graze amongst the seemingly endless green fields divided by dry stone walls. The gentle rise and fall of hills and vales, sparkling streams and rushing rivers interplay with wide expanses of reservoirs and moorlands. Picturesque towns, villages and traditional country pubs abound amidst a rarified atmosphere of peace and tranquility. Nidderdale's spectacular scenery includes How Stean Gorge - a dramatic limestone cleft with bridges, walks, cafe, play area and ample car parking. Further dramatic delights amongst the Dales landscape are to be found at Brimham Rocks. Resulting from the eroding action and weathering by the elements over thousands of years there weird and wonderful shapes provide an awe inspiring backdrop for a picnic. The rocks and car park are in the custody of the National Trust who have incorporated an information centre and shop together with footpaths for the less adventurous.
