Bedford is a traditional market town with open-air markets offering a huge variety of goods every Wednesday and Saturday throughout the year.

The town has a happy mixture of mall and real street shopping with the Harpur Centre encompassing some of the top High Street names. Boulevards is a haven for browsers, full of small shops selling items ranging from a bar of chocolate to a musical instrument. Most of the big name shops are based in Bedford but there is a lot of speciality retail too. Don't forget to explore some of the alleyways and smaller arcades where you will discover a number of shops selling the more unusual items. Summertime brings in a host of professional street entertainment with clowns, jugglers and street theatre with the express intention of amusing shoppers. Don't miss the beautiful floral displays which have made Bedford and Anglia in Bloom winner.

Don't miss the Christmas lights and the very special atmosphere of the Victorian Fayre where costumed traders and shoppers enjoy the carousel, traction engine, organ and other victorian entertainment and really join in the spirit of the late 1800's.

Car parking could not be easier with a number of in town and edge of town facilities plus an affective Park and Ride scheme.
