Ely is charming market town of ancient narrow streets, timbered houses, medieval gateways and a park sweeping down to the lovely River Ouse. The city's crowning glory is the cathedral whise famous lantern tower can be seen from miles around. Within the cathedral is a unique museum collection of fenland stained glass whilst Ely museum details the city's history. The 17th century family home of Oliver Cromwell has been beautifully restored and is open the public as a tourist information and Cromwell exhibition centre.
