As a major cultural centre, Cambridge has a splendid selection of museums. The
Fitzwilliam has extensive Egyptian, Greek and Roman collections, illuminated
manuscripts and one of the most comprehensive displays of English pottery and
porcelain. Painting include works by Titian, Gainsborough, Hogarth and Turner.
In the Folk Museum a vast array of domestic articles and trade equipment
reflects local life over the past few hundred years. World-wide extensive
collections are housed in the Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology and at the
Scott Polar Research Institute you can see relics, souvenirs, letters, diaries
and photographs from Captain Scott's journey to the South Pole. Modern art
enthusiasts will enjoy Kettle's Yard Art Gallery.
