Here, over the blacksmith's anvil, many runaway couples have been married and you can see this famous anvil and a coach museum at the Old Blacksmith's Shop Visitor Centre. From Gretna, drive westwards following the Solway Coast Heritage Trail signs for the Ruthwell Cross and moated castle, Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust Centre and National Nature Reserve at Caerlaverlock.
