BuckinghamBuckingham, the second largest town in the Aylesbury Vale, dates back to Saxon times when it provided a convenient crossing point on the Ouse. The town was largely rebuilt following a disastrous fire in 1724 and as a result has a mainly Georgian feel. Many striking buildings in the town, including the Old Gaol and Town Hall, were built during this period.More recently, Buckingham welcomed Britain's first independent University and has opened up an attractive riverside walk along the banks of the Ouse.
