An area of exquisit scenery and romance, the Central Highlands are the setting for one of the most beautiful areas of Scotland. Its rich past and traditions create an interesting contrast with modern life styles which adds to the magic of its surroundings.

Some of the most important Scottish cites, such as Aberdeen, can be found here. Standing between the Rivers Dee and Don, Aberdeen is a historic city of handsome granite architecture with magnificent buildings which are the perfect backdrop for the most splendid flower displays.

With over seventy castles you can be sure to find your own favorite. It might be the dramatic ruins of Dunnottar, chosen by Zeffirelli as location for his film of Hamlet, or Duffus, a fine example of a Norman motte-and-bailey castle with wonderful views over surrounding farmlands.

There is no better place to discover the secrets of making the finest malts. You can tour the many distilleries in the company of knowledgeable guides who will describe the process from the days of illicit distilling in hidden glens to modern day methods of production.

This area has some of the most beautiful and varied scenery in Scotland and has won many awards. A host of villages, towns and cities each full of individual charm and character, and an abundance of very different attractions mean that there is something here for everyone.
