North West

The North West has a unique heritage as the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution during the 18th and 19th centuries, with the cotton mills of Manchester producing goods and the port of Liverpool exporting all over the world. In the 19th century the area was also the birthplace of another revolution, this time involving holidays and tourism. Blackpool, with its Tower and annual Illuminations, is still a world-famous resort.
